Myofascial TherapyProlotherapy is an injection technique
that can stimulate ligaments, joint capsules, and injured
skeletal tendons to re-grow or repair themselves. Tissue stimulants
are injected, which can cause the release of intracellular
growth factors that lead to tissue repair and new collagen
growth. The way in which the technique works is similar to
the repair that would occur naturally in response to a bodily
injury such as the healing of broken skin or bone.
Prolotherapy treatment has been scientifically and clinically
proven effective. Ligaments can weaken, causing a condition
similar to a "loose shoe lace," in which support
to the joint becomes severely weakened, leading to pain, arthritis,
and joint damage. The overwhelming importance of this treatment
is that it can permanently reverse many chronic conditions.
Dr. Magaziner believes in the use of prolotherapy if and
when other, more conservative treatments have proven ineffective.
This treatment is safe, and it carries a success rate of over
85% in the already chronic population. Prolotherapy can be
effective for a wide variety of conditions, some of which
follow:
- Cervical sprains, strains, whiplash
- Cervical arthritis
- Thoracic sprains, strains, scoliosis
- Costochondritis
- Lumbar sprains and strains
- Sacral iliac sprains
- Hip joint pain, tendonitis
- Knee pain, arthritis, strains
- Ankle sprains, tendonitis, arthritis
- Plantar fascitis
- TMJ sprains
- Shoulder, AC sprain, instability
- Elbow pain, epicendylitis
- Wrist pain, sprain, instability
- Thumb / finger pain, arthritis
- Chronic tendonitis anywhere, including at the knee and
heel
